Hi! We’re Human Mobile Devices, but you can call us HMD. We have done some big things this year and we have some major things coming up so we wanted to reintroduce ourselves to those who might not know who we are.

At HMD, we have three key ideals we implement into our work:

1. Being Human
2. Being Honest
3. Looking Forward

Who/What is HMD?

We started manufacturing phones in 2015, though under a different - maybe more familiar - brand. During the first two years, HMD manufactured and launched five Nokia-branded feature phones, followed by six Nokia Android™ smartphones in 2017. Since then, we have gone on to manufacture numerous Nokia-branded phones that you know and love today, including the re-release of the flip phone, the Nokia 2660 Flip and the iconic Nokia 3210.

In 2023, we announced a game-changing move, that we would also begin producing HMD-branded mobile devices! Since then, we have released a range of amazing and creative smartphones and feature phones including the HMD Skyline, the HMD Fusion, and announced our anticipated family range.

So what’s new with HMD?

Since we last introduced you to the first HMD-branded phone, the HMD Pulse Pro, we’ve done a lot!

We’ve created some amazing phones with our partners like the HMD Barbie™ Phone and FC Barcelona range. We’ve also taken the time to find potential new solutions to create better phones through the Better Phone Project. In addition to phones and tablets, we launched the HMD Amped Buds (wireless earbuds that also charge your phone!) and the satellite communication device HMD OffGrid.

What parent controls does HMD offer?

In 2025 we announced our family focused range. For this range, we listened to real parents and guardians, real children and teenagers, and real experts to develop solutions specifically for families.

The HMD Family range aims to give parents and guardians options for how they want to introduce their children to the world of smartphones. With solutions that can be adjusted to suit every family, teen, or child, such as the HMD Fuse protected with HarmBlock+, including the HarmBlock AI solution by SafeToNet, and Parental Controls powered by Xplora, the HMD family range is built to grow with your children.

Can I repair my HMD phone myself?

The easier it is to repair a device, the longer you can keep it – that’s better for the planet as well as your pocket. Some HMD smartphones in our range are built to make Repair-It-Yourself a reality. With guides, tools, and genuine spare parts, you’re able to repair those devices at home. You can buy spare parts and tools for smart devices from iFixit HMD Repair Hub. GSMnet offers components and tools for both smart devices and feature phones via their HMD Repair Hub. Both iFixit and GSMnet also provide free repair guides, making it easy to get everything you need to Repair-It-Yourself from one place.

Sustainability: It’s important to us!

Because of our repairability promise and other key business choices, we have secured the Platinum EcoVadis Sustainability Rating for four years in a row. This award is extremely important to us because it means that we are taking the right steps towards being more and more environmentally conscious every year, especially in an industry that is known for encouraging the quick turnaround of phones and products.
