Less e-waste for a cleaner planet

Our commitment to everyone’s planet

Nokia phones is committed to a healthier planet. For us, this starts with designing durable phones that are rigorously tested and made to last longer. In fact, for our latest Nokia X-series smartphones, we’re extending the warranty to three years while guaranteeing to deliver three years of software updates and up to four years of security updates. Because the less you change your phone to a new one, the better it is for our planet.

If everyone in Europe kept their smartphones in use for one extra year, by 2030 we could save as much carbon as taking two million cars off the road¹.

Small change for big impact

In addition to designing durable phones made to last, we’re doing our part to reduce e-waste across the EU. While a USB cable will still be included, we’ve removed the wall charger from Nokia X30 5G, Nokia G60 5G, Nokia XR20, Nokia X20, and Nokia X10 packaging as part of our commitment.

Phone chargers created about 12,000 tonnes of e-waste in the EU in 2019 — the equivalent of 75 homes crammed with plugs and cables².

Sustainably crafted, built to last

We don’t believe in letting good things go to waste. That’s why our newest phones are not only rigorously tested, but also designed to be more eco-friendly. Like Nokia X30 5G, Nokia G60 5G, built with up to 60% of recycled plastic and recycled aluminium.

Find the right charger

You can charge your device using the included data cable and a USB power adaptor. Third-party cables and power adaptors can be used as long as they are compliant with USB 2.0 or later and adhere to applicable regional and international safety standards. Charging with adaptors that do not meet these standards could pose a risk of damage or personal injury. Charging time can vary depending upon device capability. The recommended power adaptor specifications are as follows:

A Nokia phone charger

Input

The charger should run on an input of 100-240V~50/60Hz 0.5A

Output

The ideal charger output is 9.0V/2A

Plug types

In Europe, use a charger with an EU plug (1-CHEUQ302-095) In the UK, use a charger with a UK plug (1-CHUKQ302-096).

Dedicated to making a difference

We’ve never been more committed to designing devices built to last longer that are better for the planet. From partnerships with environmental causes to our devotion to reducing e-waste, we’re bringing people closer without costing the earth.
