We’re in the business of technology, sure, but technology is nothing without the Human touch. And to create technology that people value, you have to start by valuing your people. That means kindness to one another, respecting one another, and supporting one another. These are the things that make us Human. All of us.
Striving to be exceptional
It’s one thing to find a new way of doing things – it’s another thing entirely to deliver something the exceeds expectations. So we don’t stop at innovation – we take that new thing we did and refine it, refine it again until the final product is something that can only be described as Exceptional.
Teaming up like a collaborator
Trade one collectable card for another, you’ve got one card. Trade an idea for an idea and you’ve got two ideas. That’s math we can get behind. We love talking and sharing within HMD, but reaching beyond our four walls is when the magic really happens. Our partnerships with other Collaborators is something we shout about from the rooftops. Even if it is a little embarrassing.

Lisa Higgins
(UK & Ireland)
Lisa came forward during Covid times and took up the challenge of managing two roles within the organization: UK & Ireland Marketing Lead in addition to Ireland Country Manager. As described by one of the regional leaders:
“I will call this true Human value, where a person raises their hand – for no additional benefit – to help out the team.”
Lisa is an excellent team player and an empathetic leader who put the team’s success on top. As a result, UK & Ireland are the lead markets globally for DTC. UK & Ireland DTC holds 50% share of Europe’s DTC sales. In addition to DTC, UK & Ireland became the lighthouse markets for performance marketing strategies.
Zach Haney
(North America)
Zach always considers the “what” and the “how” in his unique self-starter mindset while playing well as part of a team. Zach was joined HMD with the idea of covering the regional role in support of sell-through and sell-out. He was quickly redirected to support AT&T and Cricket channels.
Leadership in North America describes Zach as being “instrumental in building the rapport with the key store owners and authorized dealers and HQ." He worked closely with Marketing and Go-to-market teams to execute what was one of our best product launches in the US!
Zach was thrown into the deep end during one of the organization changes, but he kept on swimming. He listened to customers and partners to understand their pain points, then built an offer for them while at the same time learning how the product portfolio was being built.
Giving all levels of products and activities his full dedication, Zach owned his channels, nurtured them, and even found a way to reach new businesses.
Hassan Shakeel
(Pakistan)
When the challenges of Covid-19 hit at the same time as a key regional project, Hassan stepped up to the plate. He provided an exceptional level of support and ownership to ensure that the project would not be delayed, proactively coordinating with stakeholders and the global team.
Supporting with local manufacturing was not Hassan’s primary role, but despite having no prior background in manufacturing, he was instrumental in building our local manufacturing capability in Pakistan. Setting up this local manufacturing unit was an added and very different responsibility from Hassan's primary role, but he rose to the challenge and worked tirelessly to ensure the project’s successful completion.
Hassan embodied our value of Excellence in this project, and as a result, our local manufacturing unit in Pakistan is set up. Today, we’re able to ship “Made in Pakistan” phones to several MENA & Africa markets leading to savings in freight and shipment costs.
Maureen Kambona
(East Africa)
Maureen’s work in executing the retail fixtures and furniture in three new markets (Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda) was a new level of responsibility – over and above her marketing campaign tasks in Kenya. Maureen worked with the distributors and agencies to produce, distribute, and execute in these markets, while performing exceptionally well in organizing the agency teams to ensure the execution was done successfully and to our brand standards.
Maureen is endorsed for her consistency in demonstrating the HMD value of in the Collaborator – she quickly adapts to our ever-changing environment driven by constraints to still deliver on her marketing initiatives. As a result, we have seen increased partner confidence and Nokia's brand presence at retail. In addition, her agility and flexibility have prepared her well to roll out initiatives for the transformation channels that are generating growth for the East African business.
Maureen has created close working relationships across functions within HMD Global and builds her marketing plan in consultation with the business managers and key partners to ensure delivery against combined goals. During a Nokia C30 request from retail partners, for example, an impactful campaign was needed to drive sell-out. The result of Maureen’s efforts led to an increase in activations during the campaign.
Maureen always looks to improve on what she has done before. She collaborates well with the rest of the team, showing exceptional critical thinking skills and true passion and dedication to HMD Global.
Gautam Dhingra
(India)
HMD Global India has gained a lot of appreciation and trust from customers and partners. This has been made possible with the immense contribution from Gautam, who embodies our core value of Human each and every day. He creates an environment of warmth and support while delivering on his multiple roles at HMD Global.
Gautam has been a pillar for the India marketing team, always lending a helping hand to a fellow team member, and championing teamwork as the way to deliver across the marketing initiatives and the GTM agenda for India. Gautam is a true ambassador of HMD values.
Gautam took on the additional responsibility of GTM & Product portfolio management, on top of his existing responsibilities of services, accessories, and alliances. He has helped manage key product launches, despite having no prior GTM management experience.
