How do HMD phones with parental controls help keep kids safe?
HMD smartphones with parental controls allow guardians to enhance their kid’s online safety by limiting their access to online services, track their location, and designate contacts in their phonebook that they can call and text with. These phones are designed to help families find that balance between online safety and digital freedom.
How do HMD phones with parental controls help limit my child’s use of social media?
HMD smartphones with parental controls give guardians a few different tools to help manage their child’s use of social media.
- Block access to the Play Store. This approach means that the phone’s user cannot download third-party apps, including social media. Note that social media sites may still be accessible form a web browser on the phone, but access to web browsing apps can also be blocked but the guardian.
- Granular app access control. If you want to allow your child to download a social media app, you can still block access to those specific apps and re-enable access as and when you see fit.
- Modes. HMD smartphones with parental controls that includes modes like Bedtime Mode and School mode make it easy to block access to all non-essential smartphone apps and features for a given period of time.
Can I track my child’s location using parental controls?
HMD smartphones with parental controls that include location tracking allow guardians to see their child’s real-time location, designate safe zones, and view their location history.
Can I choose who my child can talk to using parental controls?
HMD smartphones with parental controls that include contact whitelisting allow guardians to designate contacts in their child’s phone book that are “safe” contacts. Outgoing phone calls and text messages are enabled for these contacts. Phone numbers that are not whitelisted will not be able to call or text the child’s phone. The contact whitelisting feature can be disabled and enabled any time from the guardian’s device. Please note that the contact whitelist feature does not extend to third-party apps, so guardians should consider this when deciding which apps to allow their child access to.
